Aspen Insurance has appointed William McElroy as the new global head of environmental insurance, effective immediatley.
McElroy, who was most recently the senior vice-president at Liberty International Underwriters, is set to lead the organization’s global environmental practice, establishing a new global platform around product capabilities and distribution across various markets and geographies.
He will build on the strong environmental capabilities that Aspen Insurance, with its headquarters in Bermuda, provides within the US market.
“With more than 30 years of experience, Bill brings a wealth of expertise to Aspen Insurance that will help us globalize our environmental product offerings,” said Aspen CEO Mario Vitale.
Earlier this week, Aspen Insurance Holdings announced the opening of a new office in Singapore through Aspen’s Lloyd’s syndicate, with two appointments straight from XL Catlin.
The office will be led by Yann Marmonier, who will take the role of principal officer and managing director. Previously, Marmonier was Singapore country manager at XL Catlin. He has also held senior roles with Catlin in Singapore, including branch chief executive officer.
Aspen has also appointed another XL Catlin alumnus, Paul Hackett, as head of marine for the Singapore office. He spent a significant amount of time at XL Catlin’s Singapore office and previously spent almost 20 years with RSA in underwriting and management positions.
