Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) announced four new executive appointments early this month, and with them the company set its intentions on the aggressive development or expansion of several lines of business.

The new executives are:
  • Danielle Librizzi, senior vice president and head of professional liability
  • Will Fahey, senior vice president and head of commercial executive lines
  • Joe Schrancz, vice president and head of architects and engineers (A&E) professional liability
  • Maura Verrone, vice president and head of private and not for profit, executive and professional lines

“BHSI will be expanding into numerous executive and professional lines and is poised to grow rapidly in our targeted areas,” said Sr. Vice President Dan Fortin in explaining the timing and reason for the hirings. “We look forward to bringing to market new primary policies with the simplicity and clarity that is the hallmark of our company.”

Librizzi comes to BHSI from CAN Financial where she oversaw numerous areas including cyber claims, an area she will also manage at BHSI. She holds a law degree from St. Johns. Fahey is expected to lead BHSI’s expansion in commercial executive lines. He was most recently senior vice president at Zurich North America. He has a law degree from New York Law School.

Schrancz will direct BHSI’s entry into A&E professional liability. He was most recently with Catlin Insurance. Verrone will lead the company’s entrance into middle market executive lines. She comes to BHSI from ACE Commercial Risk, where she was an underwriting manager. She will be based in Atlanta.
